Laura Bishop
CV
Laura is a Newcastle based contemporary artist who uses sculpture and installation to explore interior space, the intersection of domestic textiles and architecture, the home and the house.
Working primarily with textiles, but incorporating various media including wood, metal and concrete, Laura’s work engages with domestic material culture and plays on scale to consider the paradoxical nature of home as both a deeply felt human experience and a fragile construct.
The resulting work asks the viewer to reflect on home as a shimmering, multifacitated idea, where interior architecture and surface decor both conceal and reveal the complex power dynamics inherent in domestic spaces.
Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting in 2021 from National Art School, Australia. She has exhibited in several group exhibitions across Australia. Her work is held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
